Who should be on the board?

The Motion Picture Heritage Corporation has requested that we create a board of directors to advise their non profit.

This page is intended to discuss who should be on that board. The request was for 5 board members, but it's possible that number could be flexible.

You can also give your thoughts on the structure/responsibilities for the board.

Local (Oakland) Community Rep.

Someone at the last meeting spoke well about the two different ways that we're using the word "community".

a) The community of fans of the Parkway who regularly patronize the theater.

b) The diverse local community in the area, and the broader Oakland community.

I think it's important to have representatives for each of these groups. So, let's have one person representing the local community. I'm not sure how this person would be chosen.

Two Elected Representatives.

See the note above about community. We should have someone representing the local community. But, our community is really made up of the people who solicit the theater. As such they should have an ongoing say in how the theater is run, and I think they deserve 2x the representation.

As for the voting process; maybe one month a year ticket stubs will serve as ballots. Each ticket stub gives you one vote.
